Nottingham Forest vs Fenerbahçe
<10>

Forest cruised to a comfortable away victory in Turkey in the first leg and now return home with a three-goal aggregate advantage, effectively one step into the Round of 16. However, compared to the UEFA Europa League, their situation in the Premier League is far more concerning.

At the moment, Forest are only two points above the relegation zone, with West Ham United F.C. currently inside the drop zone but showing strong recent momentum. Forest are at real risk of slipping into relegation trouble. If they were to be relegated, even a deep Europa League run—or winning the title—would lose much of its meaning. Survival in the league is clearly the club’s top priority.

This lack of full commitment to European competition has already been visible since the group stage. Despite a squad valuation exceeding €600 million, Forest only finished mid-table in their group. With stronger focus, a top-eight finish was very achievable, but poor domestic form has inevitably affected their European performances.

With such a large first-leg advantage, there is no need for Forest to push aggressively in the second leg—especially with a league fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. coming in two days, followed by a much tougher clash against Manchester City F.C.. Given their relegation pressure, squad management becomes critical.

New head coach Pereira, who only took charge in February, is fully aware that league survival is the primary objective. Their recent late defeat to Liverpool F.C. has only increased the pressure.

Fenerbahçe, coming from the Turkish Süper Lig, face a clear gap in overall squad strength compared to Premier League sides—even relegation-threatened ones. After the heavy first-leg defeat, their qualification hopes are virtually gone, so this second leg is more about playing with freedom and pride. With less league pressure and fewer psychological constraints, they may actually perform more comfortably.

From the market perspective, the Asian handicap opened significantly higher than in the first leg. While an initial line around Forest -0.5 would be reasonable, the market opened at -0.75 and has now moved to -1, indicating excessive market heat on the home side. That level of popularity is often a warning signal, suggesting draw risk.
